Crazy?!

This past weekend was the 32nd Annual Lincoln Marathon! For the second year in a row I have tested my determination, focus, and pushed my limits running this race.

This year the experience was awesome!!!! The weather was perfect; cool, humid, and slightly sunny. You might be asking “Why in the world is humid a perfect running condition?!”. Well I will tell you. Because the air in Las Vegas is super dry and it feels so good to take a breath and not feel like your mouth is full of sand!! :-) Anyway, the highlight of the race was the last 4 miles. The last 22 miles of the race has started to steal my last bits of reserve strength. Then someone that we all know and love rode by on his bike giving me encouragement and taking my mind off the exhaustion. Jon Cannon was this individuals name. I had seen him, Doug, Katy, Al, Becky, and Steve all out to cheer me on (all local climbers!). By the last 4 miles of the race all of the above mentioned awesome people were riding their bikes behind me shouting encouragement and blaring old school Madonna on a portable tape driven boom box all the while wearing costumes! I’m sad to say that I don’t have many pictures of the posse that brought me to the finish line but maybe Katy Nelson can provide some entertaining pics for me to post! Needless to say i finished the race strong with a time of 4:39:25 and average per mile time of approximately 10.5 minutes. I would like to thank all those who came out to support me and bring me to the finish line. Without you guys it just wouldn’t have been the same!! It really means a lot that you all were there having a good time and helping me run my brains out!! Now that all that training is out of the way, lets get to the real deal and do some sick climbing this summer!!!

It was inspiring riding along next to you, Andrew. Seeing you dig down and finish as strong as you did when I had seen you hurting at the 22-mile mark … it was just awesome. Amazing work, buddy.
