So I’m over a week late, and Eli already covered a few highlights from our 4th weekend, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in also.
What can I say we went to Colorado, climbed, got rained on, drank, climbed, got rained on, drank, got rained on, drank, and climbed. In case you lost track in there, we got rained on and drank all but the last day of the trip and only climbed on three of those days. That’s not to say we didn’t have a helluva a time. How can you not when you’re crashing here (thanks Rick)? I’m just saying my Ion got ALOT of use!
So here it is. An abridged recap of the weekend’s events…
THURSDAY
Clear Creek Canyon – fun fun at Little Eiger. Some of the best 5.10′s in the canyon. Might I suggest Headline. It’s a great intro 5.10a with a smooth lie-back section at the top (and I’m usually adverse to pimpin lie-back routes).
-RAIN-
Eric working one of the Morrison classics – Helicopter (V5)
Morrison – not a bad little bouldering area. Easy (ish) approach, close parking, and
coffee immediately downtown when you’re done. What boulderer could ask for more? Maybe not to be sprayed down by the resident douchebag? Despite finding some great problems, it was a little hard to enjoy them when just before you go to get on the route you are told “Here, I’ll just flash this real quick so you can see the beta.” Magnum, bullet, BANG, problem solved! Next!…
FRIDAY
Flatirons – It never fails to amaze me how much fun these things are. Especially when you get the great weather we did and you’re lucky enough to share the climb with great people. Thanks to Nicole and Ron for that!
You couldn’t ask for better partners. Nicole, Ron and I summiting the First Flatiron
Boulder Canyon – Country Club Crack – you know the story
SATURDAY
-RAIN-> BEER->SUSHI mmmmmmmm………
SUNDAY
Clear Creek (again) – Anarchy Wall this time. Nicole rocked what I think is one of the hardest 5.11′s I’ve tried. The Anarchitect throddled me. And James nearly cut my rope! We’re still trying to figure this one out, but in the end I’m just glad our young friend got to come home upright in one piece.
That’s it in a nutshell. Hope everyone else had a great 4th too. On a seperate note, Eli I’m excited as much as I am jealous of you. All I can say is I hope you keep posting to this so we can keep tabs on you. I’d love to meet up with you at any of those places! Travel safe.
