I hope you had a good holiday. It was a great weekend around here. Between grilling out and fireworks, we squeezed in a little climbing in Boulder Canyon.
Laurel leading some 5.10 in Upper Dream.
I put together a little clip from the weekend. The first is Adam working Mud Shark in Upper Dream Canyon. The climb has tenuous feet and a sloping finger crack at the crux. Next is Chris Rollings on his onsight attempt of Country Club Crack. CCC is an old, great route high in the Canyon. The 5.11 fingers crux feels insecure and pumpy.

The videos are looking great, Eli. Thanks for filming! Working Mother? Dude, can't you wear the pants enough to have Amy at home raising your future triplets?
Lizz and I returned to Upper Dream yesterday and I finally got that route – on the second try. I felt great on the first attempt. I was set up for the crux move the best I had been, but didn't catch the horizontal scar right. When I actually stuck it, it felt like I was going to peel the entire time. I made a flailing throw and luckily my hand slotted in perfectly. After that, we did some easier, fun lines and got rained out again. Then I bought Lizz dinner for belaying me on my flailing attempts (and being super kick ass).
Glad you sent Adam. Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I'm really enjoying the video stuff.

Nice video, Eli! You know Amy has to be a working mother to pass the legend of the mountain lion on to the future Powells….
Adam, I was so proud of you getting that line finally! I am always happy to give you a belay and always appreciate you taking me out to dinner!
