Gift Guide

Well the holidays will be here soon. Almost any outdoor-related gift will win over the climber in your life. Here are some notable exceptions (i.e. don’t waste your cash on these)…

The Selk Bag is a sleeping bag with legs and arms, so you can walk around camp in it. , ‘nough said.

Figure 8 belay devices: These heavy, rope kinking, pain-in-the-butt belay devices have been outdated for 20 years. Why are they still sold?

A $35 chalk bag “Made with technical Schoeller softshell fabric” and “injection molded belt [buckle]“. What an overbuilt waste.

I love Metolius, but they need to stop making their nut tool. This thing is heavy, overbuilt, the built in carabiner doesn’t work well, and it’s twice as expensive as a comparable nut tool.

Your girlfriend does not want these earrings, period.

That is all, for now.

  1. I think Ryan has almost all of these things, including the earrings. Ask him about his sleeping bag sometime.

  2. I would wear the sleeping bag and the earrings to work. Just sayin'

  3. Who needs a lightweight nut tool for a little scratching? Isn't that what those things are for?
