Portrait Time Lapse by Ron Propri

In first grade, Ron Propri skipped math class to draw…for a week.  At seven years old, Ron’s art held it’s own in a high school art show.  This wouldn’t be the last time Ron would choose art over math; he left graduate work in physics to pursue photography.  Many of the photos you see on this site were taken by Ron, as he is a close friend and climbing partner.  He recently returned to drawing, painstakingly drawing a portrait of his girlfriend, Emily. A time lapse of Ron drawing is embeded above, every second shows one hour of work.  A couple more pictures after the turn…

    That was an amazing video! I’ve never thought of drawing that way–we were taught in art class to draw a basic oval for the face first, then fill it in. Ron just begins where he needs to and goes from there. What a treat to see the process. Great photos, too.
